As Singapore celebrates SG60 this year, I’ve been reflecting on the moments and brands that truly define our nation’s spirit. For me, Tiger Beer is one of them.
My connection to this Singaporean icon grew even stronger when I had the chance to visit the Tiger Brewery with my family in 2022. Walking through the historical grounds and seeing how ‘Singapore’s spirit’ is literally brewed into every bottle was an unforgettable experience. It truly brought home the legacy that APBS has built over 90 years on our shores.
But beyond the fascinating history, for me, these beers are deeply intertwined with the memories we create. They’re not just drinks; they’re markers of shared moments, big milestones, and the simple joys of life.
One memory that truly stands out is from the period when COVID-19 restrictions finally began to ease. After what felt like an eternity of uncertainty and separation, that day felt like a collective exhale for the nation. My closest gang and I finally got to reunite properly. We gathered, and as we finally raised our cold Tiger Beers, that first sip was more than just refreshing. It tasted like pure freedom, the relief of getting back to normal, and the sheer joy of simply being together again, undivided. It was a powerful moment of reconnection and resilience, perfectly punctuated by a familiar, comforting taste of home.
I’m incredibly proud to have brands like Tiger Beer be such an integral part of Singapore’s journey, and my own.
