World Water Day At Lorong Halus Wetlands
This year’s World Water Day’s global theme is ‘Water and Jobs’ which highlights the importance of recognising people who work in water-related sectors. In line with this and PUB’s ‘Make Every Drop Count’ campaign, APBS organised a visit to the Lorong Halus Wetlands on 19 March.
The visit sought to encourage its employees and their families to play an active role in conserving, valuing and enjoying water. Lorong Halus, once a landfill, has now been transformed into a scenic nature reserve rich in biodiversity that houses animals like otters and migratory birds. All who visited learnt more about water bodies, bioengineering techniques used to treat water and how PUB made the transformation from a landfill to a beautiful park.
