Maifest is an annual festival in Germany where locals traditionally congregate to celebrate the start of Frühling, or Spring and the new harvest. Celebrating the spirit of the Erdinger brand and its Bavarian heritage, Erdinger brings Maifest to Singapore for locals to enjoy the premium German wheat beer in an authentic German setting.
Erdinger Maifest, which was organised for the past three years, was held on 9th – 10th May 2014, and featured a towering five-metre high Maibaum, or Maypole, which symbolises vitality and fertility of nature. Dancers will be invited to hold on to the ends of the multi-coloured ribbons which decorate the Maypole, while they dance around it for good luck and fortune. Erdinger beers including the Weissbier, Dunkel, a limited-edition Urweiss brew and the low-alcohol variant Alkoholfrei were served, with a spread of authentic German fare served by Tavern maids in traditional dresses at the festival. To enhance the festivities, a German band was flown in to immerse revellers in an experience that is truly German.
